Lake Havasu City was founded in 1963 by Robert P. McCulloch as a master planned community.  He also purchased the London Bridge for $2,460,000 and moved it brick by brick across the world to reconstruct in Lake Havasu City.  The channel was dug beneath it and the English Village was constructed adjacent to it.  Creating a rather unique attraction that draws crowds from around the world.  The London Bridge is Arizona’s second largest attraction after the Grand Canyon.

Lake Havasu City is approximately 150 miles southeast of Las Vegas and 200 miles northwest of Phoenix.  The population is just over 55,000 and the city attracts almost a million visitors every year.  Many local careers are in the hospitality, retail and service industries.  Other large employers include Sterilite Corporation, Havasu Regional Medical Center and London Bridge Resort.

In additional to award winning elementary schools and fully accredited charter schools, Lake Havasu City also boasts a branch of Mohave Community College, Northern Arizona Universityand Arizona State University.  There is plenty of opportunity to achieve higher education or simply increase your knowledge.

Located on Arizona’s West Coast, recreational activities are plentiful and your choices are endless.  Whether you enjoy golfing riverside, gambling lakeside, dining over looking the famous London Bridge, boating in the channel or simply relaxing poolside, Lake Havasu City has the perfect activity for you!  Numerous regional parks that include a BMX track, dog parks, nature trails, model airplane field, golf courses, skate field, shooting range, motor raceway, several pedestrian/bike paths and launch ramps/marinas.   Residents also enjoy the aquatic center complex which includes a wave pool, indoor waterslide and spray park.  Also available is a library, museum, visitor center, two movie theaters, performing arts theater, over 160 restaurants, night clubs and an airport.   If that is not enough there are The Shops at Lake Havasu (regional mall), with additional shopping available in the Channel Riverwalk District or the Uptown McCulloch Main Street District which also hosts special events throughout the year.
